Moschino beschuldigd van het stelen van ideeën Noorse ontwerpster

De collectie die Moschino dit weekend toonde op de Modeweek in Milaan, zou volgens ontwerpster Edda Gimnes nogal veel inspiratie putten uit haar ontwerpen.

Dit weekend toonde het luxelabel Moschino haar nieuwe collectie op de Modeweek in Milaan. Modellen verschenen er op de catwalk in jurken die met viltstift ingekleurd leken te zijn. Alleen zijn die ontwerpen volgens de Noorse designer Edda Gimnes uit haar schetsboek geplukt nadat ze vorig jaar in New York samen zat met iemand van het modehuis.

De ontwerpster uitte haar frustraties daarover op Instagram. ‘Vandaag werd ik teleurgesteld en met een inbox vol berichten wakker van mensen die mijn werk kennen en gisteren de nieuwe Moschino-collectie zagen’, schrijft ze. ‘Ik ben er me van bewust dat we in een industrie werken waarin inspiratie van elkaar overgenomen wordt en dat imitatie de grootste vorm van vleierij is.’

Kwetsbare positie

Ze geeft aan dat het ontmoedigend is om, na een meeting met iemand van het modehuis waarbij ze al haar schetsen toonde, al haar SS16 en SS17 collecties gebruikt te zien worden zonder haar daarvoor de credits te geven die ze verdiende. ‘Als een jonge designer bevind je je in zo’n kwetsbare positie’, laat ze nog weten. ‘Maar ik ga ervoor zorgen dat dit niet onopgemerkt voorbijgaat.’

Ondertussen kreeg haar post op sociale media ontzettend veel bijval. Creative Director Jeremy Scott reageerde nog niet op de beschuldigingen.

But it is disheartening to see, after having a meeting with someone from Moschino in New York in November last year. showing this person absolutely ALL My work and My original sketchbooks and ideas. Seeing the Moschino show yesterday makes me so sad and I feel so hurt that someone has, the way it looks to me,unquestionably used my SS16 and SS17 collections as inspiration without granting me any credit. As a young designer one is so vulnerable and they probably think that this would go unnoticed. I will make sure it doesn’t.
